Course Content
The Gas Monitoring role is critical in testing for and ensuring safe working atmospheres, in particular: permit controlled confined spaces, and prior to and during hot work.
The tasks Fire watch / Safety watch are required to undertake may vary depending on the workplace operation at the time. It provides delegates with an understanding of:
a) What is required for those involved with performing a test for oxygen, flammable and toxic gases up to and including working in confined spaces.
b) What is required for those involved with testing for flammable gas in preparation for hot work.
c) What is required for those who provide safety watch duties by the ongoing monitoring of a hot work site.
Target Audience:
1. Target Audience: This programme is designed to meet the initial training and knowledge assessment requirements for personnel preparing to work as Standby/Safety Watch with duties at the entrance to a confined space or hotworks.
2. Delegate pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites.
3. Duration: 4 hours
4. Validity: 3 years
5. Certification: Gas Monitor Training Course Certificate issued by Solas Marine Services.
6. Approved Standard: OPITO
7. Health Prerequisites: All delegates will be asked to complete a standard medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
