LIFEBOAT REHOOKING AS PER NEW REGULATIONS
To improve the safety of lifeboat release and retrieval system (LRRS), IMO during the MSC 89 committee has made amendments to SOLAS Chapter III and LSA code. The guidelines relates to the evaluation of existing On-load Release and Retrieval System (MSC.1/Circ 1392), which is in force from 1st July, 2014.
REQUIREMENTS FOR EXISTING AND NEW VESSELS
Existing Vessels : All existing on-load hooks will require an evaluation (comply with the revised LSA Code sections 126.96.36.199.4 to 188.8.131.52.6) no later than 1st July, 2013 and an on-board one time follow-up overhaul examination no later than the first scheduled Dry-docking after 1st July, 2014.
The one-time follow-up overhaul examination by the manufacturer or authorized representative should be in accordance with MSC Circ 1392.
New Built Vessels : Hooks have to comply with the revised LSA Code (complete section 184.108.40.206).
